The proposal


Westfield St Lukes have submitted a private plan change to re-zone residential areas around the current St Lukes centre for high density commercial use.

This includes:

  • The rezoning of residential area on Aroha Ave and Exeter Road to business zone
  • The rezoning of residential area north of Exeter Road to a business zone
  • Changing the current business zone from between Exeter Road and Morningside Drive

What does this means for the area?

  • Westfield plan to extend Exeter Road onto Aroha Ave which will then become a new entrance into the shopping mall / carpark. This would mean a major increase in traffic for the surrounding area, including Aroha Ave, Kenneth Ave, Bournemouth Ave, Leslie Ave and Gribblehurst Park.
  • With the zones they propose to change they will have an envelope in some areas to build to an unacceptable height for the surrounding area. Click here for some illustrations.
